The concept of financial planning is very difficult for the villagers to understand. I am not sure how to teach the information in a way they will comprehend and remember. I feel that eight classes are not enough to truly teach what we need to. We plan to extend at least 2 more classes.
For the most part we are not able to see the stars out here, which is weird because it gets so dark at night. But tonight, the stars were really bright. I love knowing that wherever I am in the world we are under the same sky and really the world is not as big as it seems. There is kindness, and good people wherever you go. I think there are more of them in Ghana though for sure. I have never met a friendlier group of people in such concentration. Perhaps it is just that I have allowed myself to slow down from the American hustle and bustle and I see more of what happens around me. I know that when I get back to America I will be slowing down and taking advantage of much more around me. Too much can be lost when we are in a hurry all the time.
The power is out in the village so it is extra dark. I went for a walk and spent time listening to the different animals and bugs making noises. As my eyes became more adjusted to the dark I saw fireflies all over. I also saw some lights on the ground. I found out it was glow worms. Who knew they actually exist!? I wonder what makes them glow. It was beautiful to see the ground light up all over like little lights spread across the weeds and dirt. I love being in Ghana. The celebration, festival, and people in general is quite the treat!
