Odds and ends of the week

It is amazing how much I love it here! I do not love the heat but it is outweighed by all the wonderful people I meet and the experiences I am receiving. This post will essentially be random pics and experiences we have had during the first couple weeks in Abomosu.

Chloee and Maddie have a great dresser in their room but Nate and I have been living out of our suitcases. Since we are here three months I decided to find someone to build me a dresser. The biggest difficulty we ran into was trying to explain what we wanted. I realized that people do not really have dressers here. I finally was able to explain it in terms of a shelf. I found a guy who had one already built which would be perfect for my needs. Nate liked it so much he also bought one. We paid 20 Cedis for the shelf and 5 for deliver. In total about $13 USD.

In the center of town there is a ping pong table outside for whoever wants to play. Nate took on this little kid and got beaten pretty bad the first game. After Nate warmed up though he was able to hold his own and win a couple games (maybe more I am not sure).

While he was playing the girls were doing these hand games with the kids. I love how the kids can have so much fun doing the simplest of things. They do not need video games or TV at all.

This is a typical street in the town. Quite a difference from ours in the states.

I had to laugh when I saw this kids jacket. We have also seen Obama underwear on kids all over the place.

A lot of places have hand pumps to collect water, but the other day I stumbled upon a legit well and girls collecting water in buckets. which of course they carry on their heads/

I was going to put this in one of the first posts but forgot.
