The next part of our journey took us to Mole National Park. This was one of the anticipated locations of our journey because we were able to see elephants in the wild. We also saw baboons and antelope (which the guide was passionate about but not quite as exciting to us). Due to the lack of time I am going to keep written content quite minimal and provide brief captions to photos.

The bus got stuck in the dirt on this road. We all had to get out, wait for a tractor to push dirt away, and walk about a quarter mile before getting back on.
We finally made it to Mole!

My computer crashed and I was able to get it to load again so I was on the phone trying to figure it out over dinner. Nate is enjoying his Alvarro (one of the yummiest drinks I think I have had – first time in a LONG time I have drank carbonation, and did it consistently for these).

The next morning we took the walking safari tour and right as we started we saw these guys eating breakfast.
No is is not going to attack me…he just wanted to say hi!

I knew Africans loved football (Soccer) and I guess the baboons do too!
They call this place “Salt Lake” because of the salt deposits the animals come and lick. We didn’t quite feel like we were at home but glad there is a part of us in Ghana!
Such a GREAT team! Chloee and Maddie had sandals and to go on the hike you need to have closed toed shoes. They had to rent these stylish boots for the trip.
We walked to the watering hole and a couple elephants were bathing.

At the watering hold next door we found a lot more. I did not know the elephants are actually black but cover themselves in dirt to protect them from bugs and the sun.

We originally planned to finish our trip out here but realized we had made killer time so we decided to jump on a tro tro and head to the center of the earth (described in the next post). This little girl fell asleep on my lap.
